It’s nice to slow down every once in a while and think about what makes us happy and to be thankful for those things. Thank you to my fabulous and talented friend and fellow blogger Tonya from Fourth Generation Farm Girl for nominating me for the Happiness Tag! Here’s the link to her wonderful blog that includes gorgeous photos of her farm, gardening tips, yummy recipes and musings from her travels around the world: https://fourthgenerationfarmgirl.com Tonya commented on my knowledge of “champagne and everything in good taste” which is a huge compliment coming from someone who is a connoisseur of fine wine and champagne herself. Thank you so much Tonya!
Here are the rules:
Five things that make you happy.
Five songs that make you happy.
Five bloggers that may you happy and notify them of the nomination.
5 Things That Make Me Happy:
- Finding fabulous ingredients in my neighbor’s garden (they are very generous to share their summer produce bounty) and our farmers market then cooking for my family and friends.
- The first summer ripe tomato in my garden and when the lilies bloom.
- My kitty cats.
- Morning walks in my neighborhood and Pilates class taught by the most talented, patient Pilates teacher.
5 Songs That Make Me Happy:
A fun little thing to know…when you can’t get a song out of your head and you are singing it to yourself over and over…that’s called an “earworm”or “stuck song syndrome”. How to get rid of an earworm? Start singing “Happy Birthday To You” to yourself and the happy birthday song will take the place of the earworm. I haven’t done any scientific study on this but I imagine since the happy birthday song is already melded into our subconscious it just nestles back into our memory bank after it has done it’s job.
“I Say A Little Prayer For You”… written by Burt Bacharach for Dionne Warwick, 1967
“Someone To Watch Over Me”…composed by George Gershwin (My “George Gershwin” is pictured below…kitty cat sticking his tongue out! We name all of our cats after big band musicians…we love this music so much!), 1926
“Downtown”…recorded by Petula Clark, 1964
“Try And Remember The Kind Of September” from the musical comedy The Fantasticks, 1964
“Crazy” written by Willie Nelson and recorded by Patsy Cline, 1962.
Now that I review this list, the songs of the 1960’s must make me very happy!
