Two Days in Conegliano Valdobbiadene is Never Enough

Last week, I spent a glorious week criss-crossing Italy. It started with a couple of days in Sicily with Donnafugata, including a trip to the magical island of Pantelleria. Then, after an early morning transport from Marsala to Palermo, I met up with the rest of my group for a memorable Ryan Air flight up to Treviso, in the heart of the Veneto and Prosecco country.

There, we were whisked off to Conegliano, the home of one of the best Prosecco producers, Masottina.

Masottina is nestled in the extreme eastern portion of the Conegliano Valdobbiadene DOCG with beautiful vistas of Glera vines that seem to lead right up to the pre-Alpes.

Inside the winery, we had a quick tasting, laying out the differences between DOC and DOCG as well as an overview of the regions within the DOCG.
