At the end of a hot, sweltering summer day there is nothing better than a cool, refreshing vodka cocktail. I was recently introduced to RÅVO vodka. The name is derived from the Swedish words for raw (rå) and Vodka. It is made from pure, all natural winter wheat. It is distilled five times for incredible smoothness and blended with clear spring water. RÅVO makes a marvelous vodka martini, so smooth…

My nasturtium blossoms in my garden are in bloom so I made nasturtium blossom ice cubes to add to my vodka cocktails. It was easy, just cut the blossoms with stems attached and place upside down in jumbo ice cube trays. Cover with water and freeze.

One of my favorite cocktails is a Lemon Drop Martini. I had fun making my favorite cocktail into a Blue Glacier Lemon Drop Martini – it’s 85 degrees and humid outside today – so this should be the perfect refreshment!
Blue Glacier Lemon Drop Martini
Makes one cocktail.
4 ounces citrus vodka
2 ounces triple sec
1 1/2 ounces Master of Mixes Blue Curaçao simple syrup
3 ounces fresh lemon juice
Silver decorating sugar to rim cocktail glass (available at cooking equipment stores/gourmet food stores or on-line)
Lemon twist for garnish
Place silver decorating sugar on a small plate. Run a lemon wedge (squeeze gently) around the rim of a chilled cocktail glass (chill in freezer for 1 hour). Dip and turn the rim of the glass in the sugar, coating the rim.
Place vodka, triple sec, blue curacao simple syrup and lemon juice in a shaker with ice. Cover and shake vigorously. Strain into cocktail glass. Garnish with lemon twist.
