If you’ve spent a lot of $ on a special Valentine’s gift for your sweetheart, there may not be a lot of dollars left in your pocket to splurge on a fabulous bottle of bubbly. Don’t worry! There are lots of lovely rosé sparkling wines to celebrate your love with that special someone for $30 or less. Locally these sparkling wines are available at Mr. Bill’s Wine Cellar.
Let’s begin with Aimery Crémant De Limoux Rosé. (Crémant any wine made with the secondary fermentation method of Champagne that wasn’t actually made in the Champagne region.) Ribbons of bubbles and sparkling notes of berries just like your favorite champagne, without breaking the bank. Delicate, fresh with a long, mouth-filling finish. The color of this sparkling blushes just slightly and tiny bubbles consistently rise to the top of glass. $17. This bubbly would be my recommendation for presentation and taste.

Just for fun, there is Sex from Michigan. Yep, you heard me right…Sex. This bubbly reminds me of Michigan State cherries…a hint of cherry in the wine, but not so much as to make it sweet or overly cherry tasting, just a touch to make it pretty pink, fresh and lively along with the crisp apple notes. $18
Here’s the story about the origin of the name “Sex”…In the 1980’s Larry Mawby, owner of the Mawby winery was “fretting around for names for certain things.”
In that day, the trick was getting names and images for wine labels approved by the somewhat “prudish” Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms. The Bureau was known for being very picky about certain things.
That’s why when Mawby was approved by the bureau for the name “Sex,” he “almost fell out of his chair.”
“He wanted to see if he could tweak the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms with something odd. “So he applied for a label with the name ‘Sex.’ He had no use for it. He wasn’t going to do anything with it. He just thought it’d be fun to do it.” https://www.michiganradio.org/post/michigans-sexy-sparkling-wine-has-interesting-history

Juvé y Camps Pinot Noir Cava
100% pinot noir, this pretty pink sparkler is fruit forward with notes of strawberry, warm bread and rose petals. Fine bubbles and a long, creamy finish. $18

Gruet Brut Rosé has hints of delicate strawberry, apple, biscuits and lemon juice flavors on a soft, fine mousse. Made in New Mexico. $19

RIVAROSE in Salon de Provence … The lacy label is so pretty! Produced in the southern Rhône Valley, fresh with notes of strawberry and raspberry, vibrant bubbles, made from Syrah and Grenache grapes. $17 I would choose this bubbly because the French label reminds me of romance!

First Press Ruby Red Sparkling Rosé is a fabulous choice for those who love grapefruit. Serve it for Valentine’s Brunch in grapefruit mimosas. I like to add a bit of simple syrup to my grapefruit mimosas to sweeten them up just a tad. Simply a rosé wine with natural grapefruit flavor and sparkle…simply delicious! $15
Happy Valentine’s Day!
